Shawndre M. Leydon, LMHC, LPC, QS
Greetings, I'm Shawndre M. Leydon, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and proud alumnus of Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts, where I earned my master's degree. My journey in mental health has been rich with experiences, having served in various capacities, including roles with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, and at numerous state hospitals, treatment centers, and county jails in Massachusetts and Florida.
My passion lies in helping individuals facing complex challenges. I specialize in working with diverse patient populations, from those dealing with sexually deviant behavior to individuals grappling with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, often characterized by impulsive and sexually preoccupied thoughts.
In 2018, I became a proud member of the Florida Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse (FATSA), a testament to my commitment to the field of sexual abuse prevention and treatment.
My therapeutic approach is multifaceted, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. However, I'm also deeply committed to a humanistic approach that values the unique experiences and needs of each individual.
I have successfully worked with patients facing the most acute mental illnesses, and I'm dedicated to helping them find hope and healing. My passion extends to all age groups, and I work with adults, adolescents, and families. In fact, I can even attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) sessions to support families in the school setting when dealing with such diagnoses.
My mission is to make a positive impact on the lives of those I work with, and I'm here to walk beside you on your journey to well-being and recovery. Feel free to reach out if you believe I can be of assistance on your path to a better and brighter future.
